About Me

Hi, I’m Jerry Cordato—a musician, educator, and creator of original worship music and faith-based content designed to encourage, inspire and empower busy believers. My mission is to help you deepen your faith, find joy in worship, and grow closer to God, even in the busiest seasons of life.

For years, I’ve been passionate about inspiring others through music and education. Whether it’s through uplifting worship songs, practical devotionals, or beginner-friendly resources for students and teachers, my goal is to make spiritual growth accessible and meaningful for everyone.

I believe worship isn’t just something we do on Sundays—it’s a lifestyle. That’s why I create content that fits seamlessly into your daily routine, helping you stay connected to God no matter how full your schedule is.

When I’m not writing music or creating resources, you’ll find me spending time with my family, leading worship at my local church, or mentoring young musicians and educators.

I’m so glad you’re here! Let’s journey together and make worship a natural part of your everyday life.

Hi, I'm Jerry Cordato Founder of G Chord Music

— This my Story

I’m from upstate New York - beautiful Columbia County in the picturesque Hudson River Valley. I was passionate about music from very young listening to classical music on my parents’ record player and listening to contemporary music from my friend’s record and tape collections. I began guitar lessons at 6 years old and switched to piano lessons at 8 years old. I began playing piano and singing every week in church and writing and recording songs dealing with music equipment and jam sessions with friends when I was 12 years old. I implemented these skills professionally at 16 playing with bands through high school and college for parties and weddings. I was able to pay for my education at the College of Saint Rose in Albany as a Studio and Education major through gigging as a freelance sideman and as a member of various bands working with many talented musical artists. I also wrote and recorded with various collaborators. All the while I played weekly in church. When my wife and I married and later started our family, I shifted my priority from my own musical pursuits to focus on my wife and children. Teaching music in private and public schools both provided for us financially and allowed me to keep myself immersed in music, sharing my passion with many delightful young people.

I’m so pleased to be able to return to writing and recording original music with the same energy and excitement I had as a younger man. My education and experience enable me to draw on a breadth of musical and experiential knowledge to bring a spiritual depth to the music I create. I use harmonies and melodies influenced by both jazz and classical music and weave them around multi-layered rhythms. Part of my unique approach is that I look at the text of the Bible from a Hebraic perspective. I study to understand how that culture would have received God’s Word in their time and context, then I work to convey the same message to us in our time and context. I aim to keep the form and style of the Hebrew text and present it in a relatable way, accompanied by jazzy melodies and compelling grooves. I love the result.

My current project centers on a group of psalms called the Psalms of Ascents. You can read more about them on the Music page of this website.
